Religious Education Directory [RED]
Our new Religious Education Directory – To Know You More Clearly is in place in our school
Titled To Know You More Clearly and published by the CES, the directory sets out the purpose of RE from Early Years Foundation Stage to Year 9 and features a programme of study with a model curriculum, corresponding to the six half-terms of the school year.
Based on the constitutions of the Second Vatican Council and rooted in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the objective of the curriculum is religiously literate and engaged young people, with the knowledge, understanding and skills to reflect spiritually, think ethically and theologically, and recognise the demands of religious commitment in everyday life.
This new curriculum will transform our Religious Education lessons and support us to develop Disciples of Christ.
The scheme is divided into 6 Branches one for each half term, with all year groups following the same branch. The branches are as follows...
Creation and Covenant
Our first branch of the Autumn term
Prophecy and Promise
This is our second branch of the Autumn term, including the season of Advent, preparing and leading up to the birth of Jesus.
Galilee to Jerusalem
Our Spring term begins with this branch.
Desert to Garden
This branch takes place in the second half of the Spring term. It includes the season of Lent and leads up to the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus.
Ends of the earth
This is our first branch of the Summer term.
Dialogue and Encounter
This is our final branch, taking place in the second part of the Summer term.
