My name is Mr Evans, and I have had the privilege of being the head teacher at this wonderful school since September 2017. I have been teaching since 2000, having previously worked in the private sector in non-educational settings. For 11 years I worked as a class teacher at St Helen’s RC Primary in Caerphilly.

Our Lady and Saint Michael's primary school is my second headship, after being Acting headteacher of Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Primary School Chepstow for 2 years. I joined Saint Mary’s RC Primary School in 2012 being appointed as Deputy Head.

I have a keen interest in outdoor learning and am Level 3 trained forest school teacher.

Outside school I enjoy walking in both the stunning local countryside and also venturing further afield.

As someone who was brought up in the local area, I feel very fortunate to work at this wonderful school, which as highlighted in a recent Estyn report (2024) is a school where, ‘The ethos is calm, caring and highly inclusive and the pupils have a deep sense of belonging. ‘We live, we love, we learn, we grow in Jesus’ clearly reflects the aims of the school and underpins its values. Pupils and staff feel safe and appreciated in the happy and homely environment.’
